Overview
LoadRunner (supplied by HP) is used as a protocol driver for high volume off-host based performance tests. The following questions and answers aim to provide an overview of LoadRunner and also give some information regarding its use.
How does it differ from QuickTest Pro?
LoadRunner is the primary off-host performance testing tool. It is supplied by HP (who also supplies QuickTest Pro and Test Director). LoadRunner allows the record/replay of business transactions in terms of their network communication between client and server. This differs from QuickTest Pro which records/replays keystrokes/mouse movements for the purpose of functional/regression testing. LoadRunner and QuickTest Pro scripts are not normally compatible.
